Today's Adventure:
Second day of Camp Pegasus... No traffic on the way to work and bought 6 different types of diet soda for Science class. Made plans with the 3D modeling person for taking students out of the computer lab for 20 minutes to take a breather from a computer screen.
In Science class I got the kids quite and focused and we talked about what a Hypothesis is and then I had the students hypothesize which types of soda will react best/have the best soda fountain.
Most believed Diet Pepsi would work the best out of these options:
Diet Coke with Lime
Diet Caffeine Free Cola (walmart brand)
Diet RC Cola
Diet Pepsi (Caffeine free)
Diet Dr. Pepper with Cherry
After that we proceeded outside and students were given the opportunity to "load" the soda that they helped carry out and we soon came to find out that Diet Dr. Pepper with Cherry clearly blew past all the competitors... about 2.5 meters vs the rest 1.2m is the highest competitor and 1 or less for the rest.
Mentos/Diet Cola Experiment/Explanation.
Then we utilized our bottles to make biomes... some kids overwater... Next time we need to give a more exact measurement of water that needs to go into the biome. With hope by next Friday we will have some sprouts in our containers.
biomes in a bottle (a similar experiment to what we did in class, we added sand between the rocks and soil and then covered with plastic wrap)
Then I taught Digital Video to Tech Trek:
Today Student got an explination for the day and then were released to create a story board... it worked for some, but not all.
After story bording students were released with flip videos and digital cameras to create their personal stories using a prop. Not all students completed their activity but they got most of the way done... Tomorrow we will make sure the flip videos can be installed and we'll see what to do from there. Looking good so far!
